It was Johnson Berman's task to forge a setting for
this treasury which would serve as showcase, while
comporting still with the demands of the State House
as site of important legislative and ceremonial functions.
This the team has achieved panache tempered by
elegance. The walls, vaulted ceiling and draperies are a
deep rose—as is the carpet—against which august, gilt
framed historic portraits glow with deep-toned dignity.
The furnishings are sober yet rich, heavily carved and
