Verne's book, the Constellation
and the Boeing 707, all formed,
for me, among other things,
a lifelong love of travel that
included two trips around the
world in the 1970s on the nowlegendary Pan Am Flight One,
westbound. In celebration of all
adventurous spirits who form
a cadre of circumnavigators
begun by Magellan, I offer you
this challenging round the world
adventure.
New York has been chosen as
a preparatory starting point,
but any place along the route—
or elsewhere—is appropriate.
As a boy, I embarked on
my first trip to Europe from
Marblehead, Massachusetts.
Wherever our global readers are
is an appropriate starting point,
and if that is home, it will also
be the most welcoming final
destination.
I have expanded Verne's eighty
days to ninety because our
voyage is not a race, as was his.
