Legendary Turin designer Nuccio Bertone's designs for
BMW, beginning in 1961, ushered in a certain sleek and
nuanced sensibility, at once quirky, plain yet intriguing.
BMW thus demonstrated drivers' commitment to a
new aesthetic in automotive design, one closer to that
of some of the smaller utilitarian vehicles of previous
decades that now possessed finely calibrated design
language. Throughout this post-war repertoire of
BMWs, each model, from an engineering point of view,
improved exponentially upon the previous. By the turn
of the century, James Bond and BMW, in particular the
Z07, became synonymous.
