I t is a pleasure to visit and revisit the eminently civilized rooms created by Johnson Berman, in this case, the Silver Room, located in the Maryland State House in Annapolis, which is the oldest state capitol in continuous legislative use, dating to 1772. The Georgian building happens to be crowned with the largest wooden dome in the United States constructed without nails. Inside, Johnson Berman, contemporary avatars of Georgian and Federal style, have fashioned a vivid venue for a most unusual collection, namely, a shining silver service depicting 167 scenes from the history of Maryland's 23 counties and the City of Baltimore.
