Flemish pavilion is rendered light and airy, both on the
outside and inside, spared the ponderous dark brick of
the genre. The framework of the lamp atop its sloping
roof is mirrored below on the inside by the skeleton of
its framework. This ingenious device is a metaphor for
Imber's entire oeuvre, each a masterwork, conceived
with originality on the outside and inside alike.
There is variety and versatility among the sixteen houses
shown in this book, evidence that Imber is steeped in
the whole of architecture's past, from Palladio to Voysey
to Wright, an adept at interpreting past styles without
HYLAND
