the weight of his considerable talent to styles less pursued, in
particular, the Hispano-Moresque and other styles emanating
from the southwest United States, from the Native American
to the middle European. Importantly, he also heeds the more
benign lessons of modernism, creating a style that forms part
of the originality of our era.
The dedication of the book reads, "In memory of my father,
Jimber, and his love of dusty roads, lost places, and distant
landscapes". Indeed, Imber's works, conceived first as
consummate watercolor renderings of timeless, idealized
structures and landscapes, possess an aura of Xanadu.
