A
chance to revisit the ethereal, often pale
and interesting precincts of Coffinier + Ku's modern
interiors is always a pleasure. This downtown loft is a rich
orchestration of a mostly neutral palette, and certain rooms
evoke worlds other than this busy part of Manhattan, a
world apart created by the designers in the intense environs
of SoHo.
The entry hall provides a very literal key to the spirit and
meaning of this apartment. There above a long, undulating
gilded rococo bench is a monumental, glittering gold
mosaic of the word "SILENCE". This artwork is at once
