The arbor room, with French doors opening onto the
garden, is a light and airy departure from the intensity of
the other public rooms. The walls are palest robin's egg
blue; the draperies sheer, the color of wheat. A table
worthy of Thomas Hope is surrounded by Regency chairs
painted in pale gold; this ensemble is surmounted by a
fanciful crystal chandelier. On the white fire surround is
an inscription of the last verse of Pierre de Ronsard's
Ode a Cassandre, which stands as a salient and fitting
summation of the youthful, rose-infused character and
spirit of Harleigh House:
