has walls of faintest pink, with tester and draperies in
white fringed with gold, and a patchwork quilt on the bed.
A threshold with white curtains and a valance hung from
gold medallions gives onto a restful sitting area, with walls
of deep maroon, and curtains, armchair and ottoman in a
rose on white chintz.
An infant's room, in an imaginative touch, features a hand
painted map of the estate in luscious pastels of aqua,
pale yellow and peach, harmonizing beautifully with the
buttercup yellow of the walls. A third bedroom, under the
eaves, breaks away from the dominant color scheme of
the house, for it is papered in handmade wallpaper, in pale
blue, based on a 1780 engraving, "Toile de la Fontaine".
