There is the remarkable "August Storm, 2008", with the
sea an ominous band of black ink, the lower sky white
in contrast to the encroaching, engulfing black clouds.
The image at first appears to be pure black and white in
color, but the black of the sea is ever so faintly inflected
with granite green. Contrast this graphic, indeed, almost
graphite rendered work with "Calm 1, Summer , 2011"
which records the meeting of two blues: the turquoise
sea and cerulean sky, divided always by the fine line of
the horizon. One thinks of the decorator's difficulties
in mixing blues; Nature does what decorators dare
not. There are other images of extraordinary subtlety.
