and seamstresses work their magic, the place has the
air of the 19th century. Prints, photographs and the gold
lettering evoke a rarified era before online commerce.
Gammarelli personifies the bespoke, right down to the
socks they sell, representing colors worn by bishops
and archbishops, cardinals and the Pontiff, respectively,
purple, scarlet, and pure white. It's an odd way to walk
in Peter's shoes but it might have some good lasting
effect on the soul. H
