Third course: wedge
Having been in the Oval Room just after a state dinner
with the President of the United States, the First Lady
and their honored guests, I experienced just how
intimate that event may be, affording the two heads
of state a period of highly personal interaction. In this
instance, other than a few White House staff, I was the
only other guest in the Oval Room. Quite by chance, I
had wandered into the room just after the state dinner
to look more closely at the furniture that Jacqueline
Kennedy had acquired. All of a sudden, both President
and First Lady Clinton and President and Mrs. Leonid
Kuchma of the Ukraine appeared as if from nowhere.
Hillary Clinton gestured for me to stay.
