Assembling their content led to a future of invention. Now we are in a second Renaissance of the revered object, in which we may know the nous, the rational scientific being of what we possess, but are startled, still, by the mysteries of its presence, the ineffable animation it lends to our rooms. In tandem with the electronic and digital, we soar: merely the electronic and digital could prove sterile. In the first period of the cabinet of curiosities, a scientific revolution arose. Now in a second era, one would hope for the same, inculcating in new generations, now with unrivalled technological possibilities, the same process of investigation, leading to new discovery and appreciation. The boundaries of good design do not stop at decoration; they trigger inspiring thoughts and ideas, ultimately enriching the economy. HYLAND
