One recalls the Futurists, from Duchamp to Boccioni to
SantElia, the former deconstructing human movement,
the latter two moving man through the barriers of speed.
This dissected Mercedes racecar reminds us of each
part in the mastery of speed. As the West, seemingly
quite willingly, removes itself from the excitement of
creation, viewing this particular display rings a cautionary
chord: once the finesse and knowledge of creating
these components is lost, it will take hundreds of years
to relearn, robots or no robots. H Christopher Hyland
