endure over thirty-five years
until King Chulalongkorn���s
death in 1910.
In 1902, Richelieu had
been awarded by King
Chulalongkorn
the
Most
Illustrious Order Of Chula
ChomKlao in recognition of
his long and eventful service
to the King of Siam. With this
decoration came the gold robe
which was to be worn on all
formal ceremonial occasions
as a full dress robe adapted
from Persian court costume.
After Richelieu���s death it passed
eventually to his grandson,
Allan AageHastrup, who kept
it locked in a bank vault until
2008, when he decided, with
the encouragement of Anders
Normann, to return the robe
to Thailand, the place of its
original creation.
Normann
purchased
the
110 year old robe and had it
painstakingly and laboriously
