I
nterior designers Tucker
& Marks have nicknamed
this San Francisco house, on
which they collaborated with
architect Andrew Skurman,
Beaux Arts Beauty. I call it
Runaway Riches. Readers of
HYLAND Lets Do It, Edition
5, will be familiar with another
project of theirs, a neoclassical
house, also in San Francisco,
which was heavily inflected
with French style. This
house reveals more fully the
designers passion for things
French. It is unadulterated
Belle Epoque, evocative of
the fictional world of Marcel
Proust, and of earlier masters,
Flaubert and Balzac. One
apprehends an irrepressible
joie de vivre in the decoration
of this house, a sense of free
reign given the designers by
the clients and a collaboration
rich in enthusiasm and likemindedness.
