L
ocated at the extreme eastern end of the
Mediterranean, in the Beirut of my youthful languid
memoriesnow fast-forwarded nearly fifty years through
turmoil and exertion to anything but a slow and relaxed
citythis apartment exudes an air of sophistication. It has
an ease seemingly ordained by the gods of Modernism.
Such is the seamless fusion of design scheme, materials,
decoration and art that this very substantial project,
in the making for over four years, appears in its final
execution to have been effortless, so harmonious are
the components. The result is, like the Parthenon,
one of immaculate conception and achievement: the
proportions and scale are not unlike those of that famous
temple.
