spacious tabula rasa against which Cullman plays out
her penchant for pattern, in this case an Indian inspired
fabric of tan arabesques on white ground which covers
the sofa, armchairs and ottomans. A huge, ship-shape
Art Deco glass lantern hangs from the ceiling, a beacon
crowning the ensemble.
Pattern animates a guest bedroom, boldly mixed rather
than matched. Cullman chose a white and rose-colored
toile for the wallpaper; its chinoiserie invites other patterns,
other rhythms to conjoin it. The armchair and ottoman
are upholstered in a strong red on white horizontal stripe,
a daringly plain contrast to the delicately detailed toile.
