The toile reappears on the bed skirts and bolsters and the bedspreads pose a further contrast in bold, oversized rose and white checks. The hallmark of this house is its informality, but having said that, the dining room is unabashedly elegant, a neo-Regency composition of ebonized and gilded klismos chairs. Against the burnt orange walls are white and indigo Chinese porcelain grotesque sculptures. White wainscoting sets off the orange; above the white mantelpiece hangs the aforementioned Frank Stella painting. HYLAND
