This Rob Southern designed carriage house contains
the family wheels, a generous gym, an expansive games
and media room as well as
guest accommodations.
Rob has deftly interpreted
Jordan's design elements
on the exterior, with one
substantial
exception.
On the front elevation he
employs a massive single
gable, a distinct departure
from the complex, more
picturesque
narrative
of the main house: it is
more ceremonial. The
rear elevation continues
the spirit of the Jordan
scheme. Both elevations
are eminently successful.
Rob's contrasting front
and back elevations is
very much a part of an
aesthetic ideal. One is
reminded of some of the
finest Arts & Crafts picturesque houses, which were
made that much more exciting by this turn of design.
Some building materials and design elements on the
inside are similar to those found in the main house. In
