Amali is the creation of Nicola and Steve Kotsoni,
owners also of Periyali, the fine Greek restaurant at 35
West 20th Street and Il Cantinori, the Italian restaurant
at 32 East 10th Street in Manhattan. Both of these
locales are destined to appear in the pages of HYLAND.
Having eaten this spring at Periyali, I can attest to the
excellence of its food. I was lucky enough to dine there
while soft shell crabs were in season; they were served,
with stunning simplicity, in a sauce of capers and, yes,
heirloom tomatoes.
I hope to dine again at one of this charmed trio of
restaurants before the next soft shell crab season rolls
around. H
