P
rincess Diana's grandfather's
military uniform is prominently displayed
in Gieves & Hawkes shop, located at the
center of bustling Bath, England. The firm
are purveyors of traditional gentleman's
clothing, both made to measure and off
the rack. The former affords countless
possibilities; the latter requires—owing to
a very limited range of available sizes—
that the customer be very trim. Not a
single article of clothing came in my, albeit
robust yet manageable size. There was a
short country style overcoat that I would
have purchased in a heartbeat.
