At first glance, one would think a seamless story,
unencumbered by complex narrative, marks the
collection of 17th through 19th century artifacts which are
very much at home here. Age, patina and faint memory
have caused many viewers to look upon these objects
as products of benign and tempered folk.
Far from accurate, the museum, founded after World
War II by inseparable life companions, American Dr.
Dallas Pratt and Englishman John Judkyn, memorializes
in room after room of period furnishings and collectibles,
the physical remains of Americans comprising groups
HYLAND
