underscore the warm glow of brick, the cool dignity
of stone, and the formidability of traditional structures,
ranging from the florid portal of a fin-de-siècle New York
hotel to hallowed temple ruins in Greece and Italy, not
to mention a landmark or two on Columbia's grounds in
Manhattan's Morningside Heights.
