very life of this great house. Standing there, I could easily
imagine the fictional servants, Thomas and O'Brien or
William and Anna, conversing there. A small pile of wood
and a stack of old wooden boxes from the Whitby Fish
Company appeared to await their attendance. What
appears to be a servant's entry is a neatly proportioned,
small freestanding wooden vestibule that evokes a
miniature temple form, there is a nobility about it. Unlike
the austerity of the courtyard's unadorned façade, this
architectural element is delicate and refined.
It is a house, called a castle out of ancient tradition, that
is a giant folly set high on a hill for all nature to regard
