Throughout the garden there are small gargoyles atop
a woodland pavilion, at the beginning of a bridge or
randomly placed along the pathway. After the first few
sightings, one's mind begins to ponder the realm of
fantasy, from the world of Harry Potter to that of the
leprechauns and the mythical figures believed to inhabit
the world below the surface of the earth in lands as
diverse as Norway and Greece.
Visions of the brilliant opening of the Norwegian Winter
Olympics came to mind: in the presence of the King
and Queen of all the Norwegians, the terra firma at
the center of the Olympic stadium opened in several
locations allowing these characters of myth and fantasy
to present themselves. In this garden one imagines
sprightly characters of this ilk, reaffirming the lively life of
this forest dale.
