Almost in walking distance from my house is the elegant Chillingsworth. However close, it���s the kind of place where you won���t want to
arrive in a jogging outfit. With the rich appointments in this historic
home, you are advised to dress up to match the ambience and the
splendid French-accented cuisine. For more than 30 years, owners
Pat and Nitzi Rabin have offered a luxurious oasis in bucolic Brewster. Chillingsworth���s chef, Nitzi creates a multi-course prix-fixe meal
which is a feast. Itmay begin with local oysters in a puff pastry or
marinated grilled quail breast. Soup follows. There are several choices,
likely a lobster bisque or chilled peach soup. Salad and sorbet prepare
you for the main dish, for example, pan roasted flounder with creamy
leek orzo, or seared veal loin steak with truffle risotto and asparagus.
Dessert features a to-die-for chocolate souffl��, and a variety of other
choices. Selections, of course, vary. It is a special-occasion kind of
place. But next door in the bistro is an �� la carte selection for lighter
appetites.
