The city���s ambiance is minimalist and chic, but the
pared down style of the denizens is played out on a
stage decorated with the wild architectural flourishes
of Antoni Gaud�� ���s wedding cake style and the equally
stunning pared-down Cubist style of the Fundaci�� Joan
Mir��. Looking up at the Gaud�� designed ceiling of the
Sagrada Familia and looking down on the city from the
roof of the Mir�� are two wildly divergent experiences, but
both are Barcelona. Gaud�� ���s designs prove that with art,
anything is possible; there are no lines; the possibilities
are infinite. But even with his whirls and curlicues, Gaud��
was a quasi-traditionalist. Not so Mir��. Mir�� is whacked
beauty. The rules are gone; only shape remains.
