���I related more to the players of his youth rather than
mine,��� explains the artist when asked about his father���s
influence. ���Though everything I knew about them was
from the back of a baseball card, I found their mythology more interesting than that of many current players.��� Oftentimes, cards he saw in his father���s collection,
which dated from the 1940s and 50s, utilized illustrated portraits as opposed to photographs which have
now become standard. The mystery of these illustrated
personas with their accompanying stories and statistics
sparked the imagination of the young Kreindler, who became fascinated with the idea that these mythical characters were actually once flesh and blood, and that their
stories were not myths, but facts - actual events that really happened!
