The living room facing the fireplace - Gammell���s self- portrait hangs
over the mantle which is flanked by two torchiers which Uncle Ives
brought back from Italy in the early 1920s. They pre-date the house.

of Elizabeth Hunter by Henry Hensche, c. 1968. The
latter was executed by this legendary late impressionist
painter at about the same time he did my portrait. They
both celebrate the sun, garden and youth in a loose
impressionist hand.
In Elizabeth Hunter���s curatorial hands, the house is a
splash of bright colors, each commanding jealously
its own space, each emanating a different emotion.
Speaking about these colors, Elizabeth says, ���I like them.
