Viewing Matthew Schulz���s paintings is an invitation to
study all the vicissitudes of light and life, and remind
us of the ongoing deep spiritual tradition in American
painting. His sporting canvases of sailing and wildlife,
unlike many of their genre, are imbued with a degree
of otherworldliness that commemorates the zest for life
that we all experience when we move beyond the built
world that so often confines us.
