The citrine, toned down a notch or two to chartreuse, is
imported into the master bedroom wallcovering, a fine
upholstery silk. Against this are draperies and headboard
in white figured with art nouveau-inspired chartreuse
and turquoise flowers and vines. The antique desk is
lacquered turquoise; the Chinese chest of drawers,
white, surmounted by a pair of
pointed, almost gothic, gilded
mirrors from Thailand.
The dining room is an essay in
Florida resort style gone electric,
with white rattan furniture set
against wallpaper, in pale green
and aqua, in an intricate Venetian
pattern. The rug here is also
from NIBADragonscalea
pattern of large scallops. The
bright green lettuce-ware pottery
collection displayed in the hutch
is from the 1960s.
For all the gaiety of Beth
Arrowoods interior, it evinces, too, a seriousness: about
collecting, connoisseurship, creative fine textiles, and,
despite intense color, a liberating feeling of light and air.
