1970s, bear in their subtle curves an homage to Emilio Terry, and Arrowood has upholstered them in turquoise silk velvet. Besides this splash of turquoise, there is another focus to the room, namely the white thirties fireplace, surmounted by an Indian wooden mirror painted white. The latter is a light, amusing touch of thirties Baroque, a mood accentuated by large pink seashells on the shelves and original antique sea life prints, published by Lamarck and Bruguire between 1791 and 1798, hand colored in England, and framed in pink mats with white frames. Flanking the hearth are two large blue and white 19th century Chinese urns and inside the fireplace is a pair of gold-plated anchor andirons. Other follies enrich this mise en scene: a pair of Rococoinspired bergeres, delicately curved, are upholstered in a bright blue and green print of a large tropical motif. Again, Arrowead gently pulls our leg by juxtaposing seventies with the 18th century. An otherwise demure cloverleaf ottoman is upholstered in citrine on acid, as are the couch throw pillows. This is a fearless color scheme. HYLAND
