Y
ouve seen this elegant man at all of the best art
and antiques fairs in the world.
This man with the smooth, round head that echoes
the elegant shape of some of the objects he sells. He
welcomes you with a sly smile as you glide into his
space, simply arranged and beautifully serene. It offers
respite from the glitter and pretense of so many of his
fellow merchants. Sometimes he chooses to comment
on an object that you are drawn to, bringing you closer
to understanding it. He might explain why it is fine, or
unusual, or why it has captured his interest. He will sense
just the right time to leave you to explore in silence. Then,
if you are lucky enough to have found a treasure to take
home, you will depart with something quite rare: a object
instilled with soul, chosen by a learned man not only for
its material value, but for its inherent spirit.
