Shells are historically associated with love, life, sanctification, new birth and the sea. Their use and presence, at least symbolically, convey a sense of well-being. Botticellis Birth of Venus shows the goddess rising full-grown from a shell. In baptism, shells are often used as vessels for the consecrated water. As a decorative motif in architecture, interiors, textiles and jewelry, the precedents reach back to the dawn of civilization. Multi Baroque necklaces. HYLAND
