he next day I attended, at the President���s invitation,
the Second Presidential Forum entitled, ���Does the
Malta Constitution Still Serve the People���s Needs?���
Simultaneously translated into English, it was an
informative window into the ebb and flow of ideas that
have characterized such discussions, including those
debated by the ancient Greeks, the Swiss, the Germans
and, indeed, the Framers of the American Constitution.
Former American Ambassador to Malta, Professor
Douglas Kmiec, a Constitutional scholar, expressed
his points of view at the opening of the forum, having
been invited as a guest to participate. President Abela
inaugurated the forum and several prominent voices
addressed a multitude of opinions.
