place of vivid present-day life that offers a way forward,
a message on the continued vitality and viability of
community in a deeply human sense, not dependent on
the artificial ties created by the technological world.
Charles Cini, also a Gozotan, publisher and author of
Gorgeous Gozo, in which these images appear, has
written a highly informative text. He writes, with passion
and discernment. He questions whether the island
should be approached by night or day:
[w]hether there is a greater charm in tracing the
undulating lines of light along its embattled front
and then, as the sun rises, to permit the details
to unfold themselves, or to see the entire
mass of buildings and the idyllic harbor take
shape according to the rapidity with which
rears the finest and most mysterious island in
the Mediterranean[?]
