The photographer has also attended to the nuts and bolts
of Molyneux���s labors: samples of stone and tile, piles of
fine silks and velvet, an ancient chunk of architectural
molding, a blue print spread out meticulously with
swatches of fabric. Books, papers, drawings; no. 2
pencils, magnifying glass: these tools which Molyneux
still uses���despite the laptop on his bureau!���have
acquired the venerable, timeless aspect of antiques, yet
they are likely to be in use in the foreseeable future. A
great decorator cannot rely on virtual imaging but must
use hand as well as eye.
There is a more public space in Molyneux���s studio, namely
the conference room where he meets with clients and
HYLAND
