remained virtually untouched until the addition, in about 1950, of a kitchen to the north elevation. In 2003, the current owners, who live with three sons in Connecticut, commissioned Mark Finlay to completely restore the whole property, a task requiring painstaking research to ensure that all work would comport with every detail of the historical site. Says Finlay, "We matched all the original house, wherever possible, even exactly the same brick and the same type of copper." Finlay goes on to say of Mount Fair, "While I did the restoration and many additions, I felt the spirit of Campbell's era. And I wanted to capture the house, and make it alive in the 21st century in a contemporary way." Finlay's master plan included building a new HYLAND
