But that was alright, going hatless on the beach and on
the ride back yielded the perfect facial tan, a fine souvenir.
On our return, we gathered in the House's kitchen, filled
at the time with a giant heap of pale yellow grapefruit.
The fruit was abundantly available near the ranch because not only was it in season, but also because regional tradition holds that its juice causes men to suffer
an anti-Casanova affliction (despite Lake protesting the
contrary to his local friends). It was all the more for us to
enjoy with shots of Flor de Caña rum. A delicious end to
a marvelous ride. H
