The school and clinic projects that
I visited are architecturally and
functionally notable. At the school
students appeared engaged with their
teachers and caregivers; computers
were abuzz; there was lively decoration
on the walls. We were received by a
gleeful throng, happy and singing. At
the clinic young families were being
given medical consultations in spaces
of pristine cleanliness. The former is the
Cambiando Vidas School and the latter
is St. Joseph's Medical Center, both in
Pastores, Guatemala.
This testimonial, written by an enthusiastic
volunteer, encapsulates the experience
of the Houses to Homes mission which
has already assisted thousands:
This spring we found our way to
Antigua, Guatemala and the project
from Houses to Homes which has
been the best experience we have
ever had. The part about building the
houses is great in itself but the best
of all was the incredibly good mood
and spirit at the worksite among the
workers and the families. The joy
and thankfulness from the families
