the walls of ancient fortifications,
clinging without railings to massive
defensive walls, like those within
the moat at the great Malta castle
at Rhodes. So much of this house
is a refined, exceedingly complex,
yet simple sketch alluding to
millennia of architecture, from
North American tribal to Greek.
Think long houses from forest and

adherence to minimalist principles,
it has enormous detail and finesse.
It has soul, it has warmth.
Note how, at the narrow ends,
the membrane-like walls extend
beyond the corners of the building,
precluding the house from being
yet another clichéd box. Add
to that the low, long horizontal
