Together, Joe Collins, executive director Judith Baker and
Project Director Oscar Mejia have overseen the efforts
of 1,354 volunteers from 23 countries. From Houses to
Homes has also either contributed to or built their own
clinics and schools.
In an accompanying photograph I am pictured with a
family who will soon, we all hope, have a new house.
They are indicative of the practical need for housing,
fundamental to sustaining family life, civic life and
industry. Each house is a beacon of help and of home,
a manageable contribution for many of us.
