for instance, against a white painted paneled wall a dark
neoclassical console supporting a Chinese porcelain horse
with a Venetian glass mirror above it. Three white spheres
occupy the floor under and just in front of the console.
In the dining room, a refectory-like table is surrounded by
neo-Regency chairs (with a nod to Thomas Hope) richly
upholstered, indeed, seemingly sheathed in purple fabric.
Unadorned floors and painted walls with very simple sheers
on the windows make for an almost austere environment
except for one stunning wall. There, placed proud of the
wainscoting, extending just above the baseboard up to
three quarters of the height of the wall is a photographic
triptych created by the decorator, each panel approximately
