The kitchen is an open-plan arrangement of floating, white-lacquered
walls, countertops and furniture, with
chairs by Hans Wegner also lacquered
in white. The surfaces are completely
bare, with no trace of daily use. The
adjacent dining area is also open plan,
looking out, through glazed walls, on
the houses interior courtyards.
In the master bedroom, floating is
again the operative adjective. The
high ceiling slants downward, and
against the back wall stretches a low,
dark-stained shelving unit, almost like
a dado, from which projects an immaculate platform bed, lamp tables
and lamps in bright white.
The severe demeanor of this house
together with its exquisite proportions is accentuated by a furnishing
scheme as plain as it is luxurious. AGI
and Gunni & Trentino have achieved
a rare balance between deference
to the architecture and sensitivity toward the inhabitants, a mise en scene
which is at once Minimalist and human, much like the compositions of
Mondrian, geometric, with bold lines
and curves here and there. H Lisa Zeiger
