tones with what are steam and work ships far below these
monumental cliffs, conveys a very different mood, that of a
weary, much-used Hudson, however dramatic the perspective. There seems to be a slight allusion in the far distance
to a metropolis, although this writer might be conjuring too
much since I know it lurks just beyond this perspective. Or
the artist, known for his quirky mysticism, might simply wish
that the viewer imagined such as a result of a few contrived
brushstrokes.
