CH: A general comment about design?
JPM: I never pretend to live in a museum. But I dont like the other
extreme, where it is cold, with no human element. Ill always warm
things up with knowledge.
CH: How important is craftsmanship?
JPM: It is the essence of the tools we have in order to make our
projects come alive. It is vital to quality. Quality and craftsmanship
cannot be disassociated. To have quality you must go through
craftsmanship.
CH: Any forthcoming books?
JPM: Betty Dowling is working on a book titled Classical Interiors that
features some of my work and will be published by Rizzoli in 2013. H
