CH: Tell us about the Chinese lacquer
walls.
JPM: They were made by 4th generation
craftsmen so expertly that the Chinese
government requested that they participate
in the restoration of their national lacquer
treasures. They depict scenes that are
a summary of different images. Fine
craftsmanship knows no frontiers and
seeks the best wherever it might be.
CH: What is the spectacular engraving
in the guest bedroom?
JPM: It depicts Alexanders Battle of the
of the Hydaspes. Both the engraving and
the painting from which it was made were
executed by Charles Le Brun.
CH: What are the pairs of framed
contemporary works of art in the grey
and red rooms?
JPM: They are Picasso gouaches. I believe
in mixing everything, all periods.
CH: What is the finish on the walls in
the grey room and on the casing?
JPM: Grey scagliola on the walls and red
scagliola on the casing.
