New Years.
Ah, the sound of popping corks, a joyous sound to many,
a dreadful sound to Emergency Room doctors who deal
with the injuries and a ka-ching sound to tort lawyers
who are sure to represent some of those soon to be ER
patients. But what is the big fuss about? If champagne
is so good, why do people shake it up and splash it at
others instead of drinking it? And why do some people
not drink it through the year?
Champagne has come to mean a festive timewe bring
out the champagne to celebrate life events but hardly
any other time. If you randomly questioned the person
standing in line at Starbucks whether champagne is
expensive most of them will say yes, yet a good bottle of
domestic sparkly costs no more than a few large extracutesy mochiatto espressos. I bought a Napa Mumms
in New Hampshire a few weeks back for about $15. For
a wine of that quality, that is quite a bargain. So how
come we dont drink more?
