Fifth Avenue entrance.
ach time I passed the Plaza hotel doorman,
when I first moved to New York in the 1970s, I recalled
a story told to me by a friend in Boston. My friend said
that when John and Bobby Kennedy needed help on the
street near their mothers apartment they relied on The
Plaza doorman for assistance, even occasionally asking
for a loan. Although I never asked for a loan, each time I
entered the Plaza, the doorman and the entire staff served
as distinguished sentinels for one of the worlds most
legendary hotels. They imbued the place with dignity
and made it clear that you were entering exceptional
territory.
